Past President Rhett Huff Becomes District Governor and
Represents Utah at International Meeting in Japan
Left to right: Jennifer Huff, Dianne Corlew, Current Internatioanl President Bob Corlew, and Rhett Huff Current District President and Past Payson Lions President
Rhett was born and raised in Payson. Growing up in a small town he enjoyed all that stuff you can do as a kid in the country. After graduating from Payson High he worked as a cabinet maker and owned a cabinet shop. He helped his parents, Ross and Pat Huff built Mountain Air Assisted Living in 1997. After being involved with Mountain Air he decided to change his profession and become a registered nurse. With the help of his wife Jennifer they took over Mountain Air in 2008 and sold it in 2015. He works in home healthcare now. Jennifer and Rhett have been married for 23 years. They have three amazing children: Sierra, Rylan and Trevyn. Rhett has served 4 terms as president of the Payson Lions Club. This year at the International Convention in Fukuoka, Japan he was sworn in as District Governor for Lions Club International District 28T. He enjoys the Lions club for all the opportunities to help in the community. From putting on fundraisers to pay for eyeglasses and exams for children in the Nebo school district to helping out at the Salmon Supper and cooking scones on Main Street during the parade. Rhett has also been very involved with the city council, chamber of commerce and is a board member on the Payson Economic Development committee. Two of his favorite quotes are “You can’t get very far until you start doing something for somebody else” Melvin Jones, Lion’s Club Founder and “Be the change that you wish to see in the world” Mahatma Gandhi.
The most important thing I can tell you is HAVE FUN! We are Lions because we enjoy serving. We desire to make the world a better place. We need to have fun doing these things to maintain enthusiam. If we aren't enjoying what we are doing, we won't be doing it much longer. Remember it's your club your way.

The Payson Lions Club at their annual Christmas dinner voted to start the "twinning" process with the "Cergy Axe Majeur" Club located just 17 miles northwest of Paris France. The club looks forward to forming a friendship with the Cergy Lions and putting an international flavor to the local club.
Being formed in the midst of World War I, the original founders of Lions International looked to making one of the goals of the club, that of fostering friendships internationally with the purpose of halting war and aggresion. By the twinning process clubs get to know each other and build relations with other members around the world.
An exciting adventure is about to begin. Bon Voyage!

Lions are excited to celebrate our 100 years of service to men and women throughout the world. And, this is the first step to commemorate our centennial – while raising millions to support our global mission areas for the visually impaired, disabled, youth and those affected by disaster. Lions from all over the globe are exploring similar commemorative campaigns locally.
Congressman Peter Roskam is sponsoring the Lions Clubs International Century of Service Commemorative Coin Act, HR 2139, thanks to Sandy Spring Lions Club, District 22-C, who formally proposed this opportunity to publicize our accomplishments and raise funds for the Lions Clubs International Foundation.

Also featured at honors night was almost four year old Drew Ericksen and his mom Annette from Benjamin. Drew suffers from a rare genetic disorder and has to have special glasses every six months. He is legally blind and can't see without them. He also suffers from eye tremors and two dimensional sight. The glasses help with the tremors and Drew has learned to compensate with the latter problem.
Drew reminds us all how precious sight can be, especially to one so young, and how important the work is that the Lions do as “Knights of the Blind”. Our thanks goes out to Drew and Annette for their great example and courage.

Also honored at honors night was longtime “tail twister” Ned Deuel, who Doug Huff honored as the “Tail-Twister of the Decade.” For the past several years, Ned’s primary job has been as court jester and to ‘extort’ a buck or two out of members following dinner. “He’s a major reason why people enjoy Payson Lions meetings,” says Southwick. “Even though it costs them a buck, he keeps them laughing and things moving along.” You could say Ned is the life of the party and the life of the club.

Lions Clubs International was voted the #1 Non-Governmental Organization by the prestigious Financial Times of London, due to transparency, and the fact that one hundred percent of funds donated go to the needy and disaster relief.
Lions Clubs International is the largest secular service organization in the world.
